Who do you have to call to have pipeline located?
South Dakota One Call 1-800-781-7474.
Who should call South Dakota One Call?
The actual party that is working near the pipeline facility.
What is the depth of your pipeline?
Federal law requires a minimum depth of 36 inches, however the pipe could be deeper or shallower due to erosion. The law requires that anyone digging over a depth of 18 inches call for a locate 48 hours before performing any work.
What should I do if I suspect a gas leak on my property?
SDIP does not serve individual homes. If you suspect a leak outside of your home, call 911 and our emergency number at 1-800-852-0949.
How can I tell if SDIP has a pipeline near my property?
Yellow pipeline markers are placed at each road crossing near your property. These markers have our name, and the 24 hour emergency phone number.
What does natural gas smell like?
The natural gas in our pipeline has an odorant added to it, which makes the gas have a rotten egg smell.
What is the gas pressure in the pipe?
Our MAOP is 1130 PSI.
What material was used to build the pipeline?
High strength steel.
Where does the gas come from?
Our gas comes from the Northern Border Pipeline Company.
